Privacy & logging policy

What OdieVPN does and does not keep, explained in plain language.

Last updated: 1 July 2026

At OdieVPN, privacy matters. That is why we want to be clear about what we do and do not keep.

OdieVPN is meant to be a simple, privacy-conscious VPN service. We want to better protect your connection without collecting unnecessary data about you.

What we do not log

OdieVPN is not meant to track your internet activity.

We do not log browsing activity or traffic contents. By default, we do not keep:

  • which websites you visit;
  • which apps you use;
  • what you view or send online;
  • the contents of your internet traffic;
  • your DNS queries;
  • your browsing history;
  • a profile of your online behavior.

We do not want to do traffic surveillance. A VPN should help better protect your connection, not track your online behavior.

What we may need

To keep OdieVPN safe and stable, we may need limited technical data.

For example:

  • whether a server is online;
  • how much load a server has;
  • error messages during outages;
  • security alerts, such as failed login attempts on our systems;
  • contact details if you ask us for help;
  • your invite or account status, if OdieVPN later works with accounts;
  • payment status, if we later offer paid access.

We use this data only to manage and secure OdieVPN, provide support, and prevent abuse.

WireGuard and technical status

OdieVPN uses WireGuard. WireGuard can show technical connection information, such as whether a device has recently connected. This is needed to run the VPN properly.

This is different from browsing history. We do not use it to see which websites you visit.

How long do we keep data?

We do not keep data longer than necessary.

Some data is only needed temporarily, for example to investigate an outage. Other data may be needed longer, for example for administration, security, or support.

As OdieVPN grows, we will make retention periods clearer per type of data. The main rule remains: as little data as possible, for as short a time as possible.

Do we share data with others?

We do not sell your data.

We share data only when it is truly needed, for example:

  • with a hosting provider needed to run the service;
  • with a payment provider, if we later add payments;
  • with a support or email service, if you contact us;
  • if we are legally required to do something.

If we work with external services, we choose them carefully.

Cookies and analytics

OdieVPN wants to use as little tracking as possible.

If we use cookies or analytics, we will clearly explain what they are for. We do not want unnecessary marketing tracking or hidden profiles.

Your rights

You may ask what personal data we have about you. You may also ask us to correct or delete data where possible.

Want to contact us about this? Email request@odievpn.nl.

Our promise

We do not promise that a VPN makes you fully anonymous. That would not be honest.

We do promise that we want to build OdieVPN as privacy-consciously as possible. Clear, calm, and without unnecessary data collection.
